Update from Administrator – June 9, 2020
We have a lot to be thankful for at the Oxford. We have not had a new case of COVID-19 with either the residents or staff since the middle of May. In total, we have had 52 COVID-19 cases among our residents. 43 have had a full recovery and 1 is still struggling with symptoms. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the 8 residents who have passed.
Our own team has also been hit hard as 38 of our staff have become ill with the virus. Fortunately, 34 of our staff have recovered and returned to work. 2 of our rehab therapists are still out and 1 of our C.N.A.s have been struggling with severe symptoms for more than a month. We are saddened to report that this past weekend, Kevin, one of our C.N.A.s passed away after a long and hard struggle with COVID-19. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
We still maintain our COVID Positive Unit as we are required to admit COVID positive patients from the hospitals. Currently we have 4 in our unit.
As a precaution, we have a 20 bed unit where all of our new admissions and re-admissions are kept for 14 days monitoring them for COVID symptoms. Anyone who has tested positive in the hospital are admitted directly to the COVID Unit.
We are starting to open our facility to very limited and controlled visitation. At this time, all visitation needs to be done outside, weather permitting. If you are interested in setting up a visitation with your family member and are comfortable with following the rules below, then call the building and set up an appointment with Alexa in Activities. If you have any difficulty getting an appointment, please let me know and I will do what I can to aid you.
- A resident who is suspected or confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 cannot be visited. A resident who has recovered from COVID-19 may be visited.
- Visitors must be screened for fever or respiratory symptoms. Any individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 infection will not be permitted to visit with a resident.
- A long-term care facility staff member trained in patient safety and infection control measures must always remain with the resident during the visit.
- Visits must be limited to no more than two individuals. A visitor must always remain at least 6 feet from the resident and attending staff member(s) during the visit
- Staff, and residents must wear a surgical face mask and visitors must wear a face covering or mask for the duration of the visit.
Bedside visits can only be done at this time during end of life. Hospice patients can be visited off the units upon request.
